Planned CPD breaks down when life intervenes. Much valuable development is unplanned: a webinar, a conversation, a classroom experiment. ‘What else have you done instead?’ makes it visible. Development is a patchwork.

Formats

  • Pop-up PD: ~1 hour, topics suggested by teachers, round-table.
  • Lesson Jam: peer feedback on lesson ideas.
  • Just-in-time PD: learning a skill at the point of need.
  • A “PD patchwork” meeting (2026): each member maps their informal learning (one member’s included DELTA Module 1). “Reflection/Reflective Practice is a skill (we may take it for granted).”

Apply in my context (Claude)

  • A checklist that counts only courses and certificates will undercount teachers’ real development. Include an “informal learning log” item (what else did you learn this month?), aligned with CPD portfolios - What, So what, Now what.
