Prompt the AI to act as a step-by-step guide: one question, wait for the answer, then move on. Through seven empathy-map questions about a class, a student or a character, it then summarises and suggests concrete support actions.

Procedure

  1. Choose who to map (a class, one student, a colleague, a story character).
  2. Prompt: guide me stage by stage, ask one question, wait, then continue; build the map when you have enough.
  3. Seven questions: says · thinks · does · feels · hears · pain points · hopes to gain.
  4. Ask for a summary, then “concrete ways to support this person”.
  5. Students: map a character, a coursebook image person, or someone with opposing views; reflect afterwards.

Limits

  • Each post ends by promoting the author’s paid books or courses; no evidence of learning outcomes.
  • Privacy: don’t enter identifiable details about real students (Claude; aligns with AI guidelines for teachers - six principles).

Apply in my context (Claude)

  • The “one question at a time, then wait” pattern is the key design idea for any tutor-style feature in the homeschool platform. It turns the AI from an answer machine into a guide.
