Exam classes are manageable with a clear goal: know the format, plan consolidation and revision, share responsibility with students, keep lessons engaging, and look after their stress.
Moves
- Learn the papers, timings and task types before the course, and explain them to students.
- Build consolidation and revision into plans; students revise at home too.
- Discussion and consolidation games, not only test practice (this also helps speaking).
- Daily independent practice: short vocabulary and Use of English tasks (e.g. Flo-Joe).
- You can’t teach every collocation; ask colleagues for help.
Limits
- A short taster of an IH Journal article; no research cited; experience-based.
